The National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors has named Columbia residents O’Rean Fielder and David Shelton as its Volunteers of the Year.

The pair received an award for their generous contribution of time to the museum and the library during the past nine years.

“It’s hard to believe almost a decade has passed since O’Rean Fielder and David Shelton began volunteering at the museum in 2007,” Katie Knaub, NAWCC’s director of education, said.

“Besides guiding visitors through the museum, they have helped with many other events and programs at the museum, including educational programs; registration for our annual fundraiser, Hops ’n’ Clocks; outreach programs for kids—they are always willing to help.

“We broke from tradition by recognizing them both as our Volunteers of the Year for 2015, but you can’t recognize one without the other … they are truly a volunteer team,” Knaub said. “I really don’t know how we could have offered the programs we have, had we not received their help.”
