The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation Program is expanding its team of volunteers in York County for the upcoming tax season.

Tax-Aide is looking for capable, motivated, compassionate, and friendly volunteers. Professional tax-preparation experience is not necessary.

AARP’s Tax-Aide program helps those unable to afford professional tax preparation — and often miss out on much-needed tax breaks and refunds — get money back in their pockets.

Volunteers are also needed for a variety of roles in addition to tax preparers, including schedulers, greeters, administrative support, instructors, technology assistants, and translators.

Tax-Aide volunteers receive comprehensive training.

Last year in York County, nearly 100 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers filed more than 4,200 federal, state, and local tax returns.

The program is offered at 14 locations in York, Hanover, Delta, Dover, Lewisberry, Manchester, Red Lion, Shrewsbury, Spring Grove, and Wrightsville.
